Hit-and-Run Motorcycle Accident Leaves Two Injured in Pacific Beach

SAN DIEGO, California In a late-night incident on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024, two people in Pacific Beach were injured after being struck during a hit-and-run motorcycle accident, as reported by the San Diego Police Department on Thursday.

The victims, two males in their early twenties, were traveling eastbound on Grand Avenue at 10:27 p.m. when they were hit broadside by a westbound 2002 Honda Civic, revealed SDPD Officer John Buttle.

The collision occurred when the Civic abruptly made a left turn onto southbound Bayard Street, directly in the path of the two motorcyclists. While one of the motorcyclists complained of pain, the other suffered more severe injuries, including two broken fingers and bruising to his pelvis and bladder. Fortunately, none of the injuries were deemed life-threatening.

Following the incident, the motorist responsible for the crash fled the scene. SDPD Traffic Division officers promptly responded to the emergency calls and initiated an investigation into the collision and its aftermath. Authorities are now working to gather information that may lead to their apprehension of the driver involved.

As this incident highlights the vulnerability of motorcyclists on the road, it serves as a reminder of the importance of motorcycle safety in San Diego. Riders are encouraged to wear appropriate safety gear, follow traffic rules, and remain vigilant to mitigate the risks associated with sharing the road with larger vehicles. Motorists, too, should exercise caution and be aware of their surroundings to ensure the safety of all road users.
