City of Azusa, California – A tragic incident unfolded in Azusa on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in the loss of three lives in a multi-vehicle collision, as announced by local authorities.
The collision, involving around five vehicles, occurred at approximately 4 p.m. at the intersection of Cerritos Avenue and Arrow Highway. According to Jake Bushey from the Azusa Police Department, the collision was initiated when two motorcyclists, traveling at a high speed eastbound on Arrow Highway, collided with several other vehicles at the intersection. One of the bikes spiraled out of control and struck a pedestrian who was seated on a nearby patch of grass off the roadway.
Emergency responders from the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived at the scene, where two victims were pronounced dead, and a third victim was transported to the hospital. Unfortunately, the third victim succumbed to their injuries later.
At least four vehicles, including a motorcycle positioned between two SUVs at a stoplight, were visible at the crash site.
Jake Bushey stated, “We have had prior accidents on this street. The city of Azusa is taking a look at that, to see if there are things that we can do to prevent accidents at this scene.”
According to authorities, speed is believed to be the primary factor in this deadly motorcycle crash in Azusa. The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of their next of kin.Fortunately, no passengers in the other vehicles sustained injuries.
