Cathedral City Motorcycle Crash Kills 20-Year-Old Rider

20-year-old Zachariah Acosta of Cathedral City lost his life in a fatal collision, leaving the community mourning the loss of a vibrant young individual. The tragic event occurred in Cathedral City at the intersection of Date Palm Drive and 35th Avenue, as reported by the local police department.

According to the Cathedral City Police Department, the collision took place around 9:13 p.m. on Sunday. Acosta, riding his motorcycle at a high speed, was struck by a vehicle making a turn onto Date Palm Drive from Royal Palms Country Club. Despite the prompt response from law enforcement and life-saving efforts by the Cathedral City Fire Department, Acosta’s injuries were severe, and he tragically succumbed to them at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle involved was unharmed and found not to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Following the incident, Date Palm Drive was temporarily closed between 35th Avenue and Victoria Drive while the Cathedral City Police Department’s Traffic Division conducted a thorough investigation. The road has since been reopened.
