Late Tuesday, a 29-year-old motorcyclist tragically lost his life after an accident on the westbound State Route 78 transition ramp leading to Interstate 5. Post the initial crash, a Mitsubishi Outlander, driven by a 69-year-old, collided with the downed motorcyclist.
First responders rushed the motorcyclist to a nearby hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries. The Mitsubishi driver remained unharmed. Preliminary findings by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicate neither drugs nor alcohol played a role in the motorcycle crash in San Diego.
The deceased’s identity is yet to be disclosed by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office. CHP’s Oceanside Area office, reachable at 760-643-3400, urges witnesses or those with relevant information to come forward as they continue their investigation.
