Perris, California — An Interstate 215 fatal motorcycle crash left one rider dead and another seriously injured after two motorcycles collided on the northbound freeway near Harley Knox Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision happened shortly before 10 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. CHP identified the rider who died as 40-year-old Daniel Bernston of Perris. He was riding a 1997 Harley-Davidson when it collided with a 2006 Suzuki GSXR traveling in the same area.
Both riders lost control and were thrown from their motorcycles. The Harley-Davidson stopped on the freeway shoulder near the Harley Knox Boulevard off-ramp.
CHP said Bernston landed near his motorcycle and was struck by a 2017 Toyota Camry as he stood up. The Camry was leaving the freeway at the time. The driver immediately stopped and cooperated with investigators.
Bernston was transported to Riverside University Medical Center, where he died less than an hour later. The Suzuki rider was taken to the same hospital with major injuries. The Camry driver was not hurt or arrested.
