Ventura, California – A fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 150 near Lake Casitas unfolded on Sunday afternoon, resulting in the loss of a motorcyclist’s life and serious injuries to his passenger, as reported by the California Highway Patrol.
The victim, identified as James Arthur Dalton, a Ventura resident in his early 50s, was riding a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle heading eastbound on the highway, just west of Red Mountain Fire Road. For reasons yet unknown, Dalton crossed into the westbound lane, leading to a devastating head-on collision with a 2019 Land Rover SUV.
Tragically, this incident marks the third fatality on Ventura County roads within a span of just two days. On Saturday, a 61-year-old Simi Valley man lost his life in a single-vehicle crash, and on Sunday morning, a pedestrian was fatally struck in Thousand Oaks.
Dalton’s passenger, a 36-year-old woman from Ventura, suffered significant injuries, including a broken arm and fractured ribs, according to the CHP’s official statement. It remains unclear whether the driver of the Land Rover, a 64-year-old man from Ojai, sustained any injuries.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. The accident occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, and law enforcement continues to gather information to piece together the events leading up to this tragic incident.
We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of Mr. Dalton during this difficult time.
