Ramona, California — A 36-year-old Ramona man lost his life in a tragic motorcycle crash on State Route 78 Friday evening. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident occurred at approximately 4:58 p.m. near Old Julian Highway.
The motorcyclist was riding a Harley Davidson westbound when he crossed the double yellow lines, colliding head-on with an eastbound Ford F-250 driven by a 52-year-old woman from Ramona. The force of the collision ejected the rider from his motorcycle, and despite efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released his identity.
The driver of the Ford was unharmed in the incident. CHP confirmed that alcohol or drugs were not factors for her involvement, but it remains unclear whether substance use was a factor for the victim.
The crash led to the closure of State Route 78 for approximately three hours while authorities conducted their investigation. CHP is continuing to gather information on the incident.
