Motorcyclist Killed in Solo Crash on Highway 101 Camarillo

Ventura County, California — A motorcyclist from Oxnard lost his life early Wednesday morning after a solo crash on northbound Highway 101 in Camarillo. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the incident occurred at 6:07 a.m. north of Las Posas Road.

Miguel Banales, 25, was riding a 2019 Kawasaki Ninja when he veered off the road onto the dirt shoulder near Springville Drive. The motorcycle struck a chain-link fence and overturned onto a private frontage road. According to CHP officer Ryan Ayala, the impact dislodged Banales’s helmet, leading to fatal injuries.

Banales was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel shortly after the accident. The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed his death. Witnesses indicated Banales had been speeding and maneuvering aggressively across freeway lanes and the shoulder before the crash.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and authorities have not yet determined if alcohol or drugs were involved. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Officer Jared McCoy at the Ventura-area CHP office at 805-662-2640.
