Lompoc, California – In a tragic incident on Wednesday evening, a 23-year old man lost their life in a head-on motorcycle collision with a Tesla vehicle on Highway 1, located south of Lompoc, California.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the victim, identified as Joseph Cruz from Lompoc, was riding his Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle in the southbound lane of the highway, just south of Highway 246, at 5:43 p.m.
Tragically, he failed to estimate a curve in the road and crossed into the oncoming traffic lane, resulting in a collision with the front of a Tesla driven by a 38-year-old woman, also from Lompoc. Regrettably, Joseph Cruz lost his life at the scene, while the woman suffered minor injuries, as confirmed by the CHP.
