Motorcyclist Killed by Suspected DUI Driver in Orange County

Fullerton, California – A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a suspected DUI driver on Wednesday night in Orange County.

Around 9:45 p.m., police responded to the scene where a motorcyclist traveling northbound on Gilbert Street was struck by a motorist heading eastbound on Orangethorpe Avenue. According to a Fullerton Police Department spokesperson, the impact caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from the bike at the intersection.

The vehicle continued to drag the motorcycle for several hundred feet before a good Samaritan intervened and stopped the driver. The motorcyclist, who remains unidentified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Footage from the incident shows the driver stumbling during a field sobriety test, leading to his arrest on suspicion of DUI.

Hours later, a police cruiser involved in the investigation was hit by a motorist in a Tesla. An officer standing near the vehicle narrowly avoided injury by moving out of the way. The impact caused significant damage to the police car, spinning it around.

Authorities are still investigating the factors behind both incidents.
