Motorcyclist Dies Big-Rig Collision Near Watsonville

A woman lost her life in a tragic accident in Santa Cruz County on Monday. According to reports from the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred around 3:35 p.m. at the intersection of Carlton and Thompson roads, east of Watsonville.

The victim, identified as a 30-year-old San Jose resident, was reportedly riding a 2023 Honda motorcycle when she collided with a Freightliner big-rig. The preliminary investigation by CHP officials indicated that the woman was heading south on Carlton Road, approaching a curve when she lost control of her motorcycle, slid across the double yellow lines, and collided with the big-rig. The woman died at the scene of the crash, and her name has not been released to the public yet.

The driver and a passenger in the big-rig were fortunately unharmed in the collision. However, the cause of the accident remains under investigation by the CHP. No further details about the incident have been released at this time.
