Motorcycle Crash Claims Rider’s Life on Highway 152 near Los Banos, CA

A tragic accident on Highway 152 west of Los Banos in Merced County resulted in the death of a motorcycle rider on Tuesday. The California Highway Patrol responded to the solo motorcycle crash around 4:32 p.m.

The 71-year-old man was riding a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle at approximately 70 mph in the No. 1 eastbound lane when he lost control while negotiating a curve. The motorcycle veered off the road, colliding with a guardrail in a dirt and gravel median.

Despite wearing a helmet, the rider sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP has withheld the man’s identity until notifying his next of kin. Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors in the motorcycle crash in Los Banos, according to authorities.

Motorcycle accidents often leave victims with physical trauma, many times resulting in permanent disability or even death. In addition to the physical costs, victims can also suffer devastating financial losses due to medical bills and lost wages.

Families of those lost in motorcycle accidents may also feel the financial strain from a loss of income as well as funeral expenses. It is important for everyone to be mindful of motorcycle riders on the roads and take all necessary precautions while driving.
