A recent motorcycle accident on Sunday, August 27, in Penn Township, Lancaster County, has resulted in significant injury. Responding to the incident at around 8:30 p.m., officials found a collision between a motorcycle and a passenger car at the intersection of Lititz Road and Fruitville Pike.
The motorcycle’s operator, a 48-year-old man from East Petersburg, suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to the hospital. Notably, he was not wearing a helmet and was the sole individual on the motorcycle at the time of the crash.
Investigation reveals that a 30-year-old Hummelstown woman driving a 2017 Subaru Impreza was westbound on Lititz Road, following a pickup truck. The truck turned right onto Fruitville Pike from Lititz Road. As the woman aimed to cross the intersection and continue west on Lititz Road, she failed to notice the motorcyclist approaching from the south on Fruitville Pike. This led to the motorcycle and car colliding within the intersection.
In the aftermath of the motorcycle collision in Penn Township, the police department’s reconstruction team and NE Lancaster County Crash Unit will collaborate with the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office for a comprehensive crash analysis.
