Motorcycle Collision Claims Life of Oxnard Man on Highway 33

OJAI, California — A tragedy unfolded on Sunday, March  17, 2024, when an Oxnard resident lost his life in a fatal motorcycle collision on Highway 33, just north of Ojai. The collision, involving a 2020 Yamaha R1 motorcycle and a 2017 Dodge Caravan, was reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Tragically, the impact was fatal for the motorcyclist, whose identity was later revealed as Gary Anderson, 66, hailing from Oxnard, according to reports from the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office. The collision caused the minivan to careen off the road, descending a steep hill, as described by the Ventura County Fire Department.

In the wake of the collision, the minivan’s driver, a 34-year-old woman from Fillmore, suffered lacerations to her right leg, and two passengers sustained minor injuries. Responders to the scene organized a rescue effort, including dispatching a helicopter and garnering assistance from bystanders engaged in a climbing expedition nearby. Meanwhile, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision remains ongoing.
