Motorcycle Accident on Highway 58 Kills 29-Year-Old Rider

BAKERSFIELD, CA — A 29-year-old motorcyclist was killed early Saturday morning following a motorcycle accident on Highway 58 near Coffee Road, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Details of the Crash

The crash was reported around 1:40 a.m. on April 4, 2026, on eastbound Highway 58, west of Coffee Road.

CHP investigators said:

  • The rider was operating a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle.
  • Driven at an undetermined speed
  • For reasons still under investigation, he made an unsafe turning movement.
  • The motorcycle left the roadway, traveled down a dirt embankment, and overturned. 
  • The rider was ejected from the motorcycle during the crash.

The 29-year-old rider died from his injuries. His identity has not yet been publicly released pending notification of next of kin.

Investigation Ongoing

CHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, including speed, roadway conditions, and any other contributing factors. It is not yet known whether alcohol or drugs played a role.
