Man Charged in Fatal Alcohol-Related Motorcycle Collision

SANTA ANA, California — On Monday, April 15th, 2024, a 29-year-old man, Mario Celestino Torres, faced charges in connection with a fatal alcohol-related motorcycle collision involving two vehicles. The incident, which claimed the life of 44-year-old Flor Mecon Granados of Santa Ana, occurred just before 3 a.m. last Thursday at the intersection of Bristol Street and Segerstrom Avenue, according to authorities.

Police reports indicate that Torres allegedly struck Granados’ motorcycle from behind while driving a 2024 Mazda. Both vehicles were traveling northbound on Bristol Street at Segerstrom Avenue when the collision transpired.

Torres has been charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury. Additionally, a sentencing enhancement has been applied due to the infliction of great bodily injury on the victim.

During his initial court appearance, Torres pleaded not guilty. His case is scheduled for a pretrial hearing on May 15, 2024. The community awaits further developments as investigations continue into this tragic incident.
