Fatal Motorcycle Collision Against Forklift Leaves One Dead

KERN COUNTY, CA – In a devastating turn of events on December 4, 2023, at approximately 5:09 p.m., a 52-year-old lost his life in a fatal motorcycle collision on Ashe Road. The incident involved a Yamaha forklift and occurred south of Megaris Avenue, as reported by the California Highway Patrol.

According to preliminary findings by the CHP, a 59-year-old man was operating a Yale forklift, traveling southbound on Ashe Road. Simultaneously, a 52-year-old man was riding a Honda motorcycle, rapidly approaching the forklift from the southbound lane.

For reasons yet to be determined, the motorcyclist collided with the rear of the Yale forklift, leading to his ejection onto the roadway. The severity of the impact resulted in fatal injuries, with the rider passing away on the scene.

The driver of the forklift emerged from the incident without any injuries. The CHP is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, and at this point, it remains unclear whether alcohol or drug use played a role in the tragic collision. 

CHP’s website indicates that the motorcyclist was found unconscious at the scene, emphasizing the severity of the impact. Following the incident, the Kern County coroner has been informed, and an investigation into the crash is now underway.
