Fatal Motorcycle Accident Claims Life in Yucaipa Collision

YUCAIPA, California — San Bernardino County Sheriff’s-Coroner officials have identified the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred on January 23, 2024, in Yucaipa as Steven Wells, aged 64, hailing from Redlands.

Wells met his untimely demise in a collision at the intersection of Wildwood Canyon Road and California Street. The incident, which occurred around 5:08 p.m. involved his black 2019 Honda CBR 600 RR motorcycle and a gray 2016 Ford Escape. Sadly, Wells was pronounced deceased at the scene, adding to the string of fatal incidents on Yucaipa’s roads.

The Yucaipa Police Department confirmed the motorcyclist’s death following the collision. Emergency response teams from the Yucaipa Fire Department and American Medical Response swiftly arrived at the scene, joining deputies.

The collision took place as the Ford Escape, traveling eastbound on Wildwood Canyon, initiated a left turn into a private driveway. Meanwhile, Wells’ motorcycle approached from the opposite direction, resulting in a fatal collision on the driver’s side of the Ford Escape.

Following the accident, authorities closed both the westbound and eastbound lanes of Wildwood Canyon Road for several hours to conduct a thorough investigation.

The passing of Steven Wells has left the community of Redlands and beyond deeply saddened and in mourning. Our prayers are with the family and friends of the victim.
