San Diego, California — In a tragic event on Saturday, April 27, 2024, an I-8 crash claimed the life of a motorcyclist and left his passenger seriously injured. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) disclosed that a black Yamaha motorcycle, operated by an unidentified man, collided with the rear of a pickup truck while traveling eastbound on Interstate 8 near the Rosecrans Street off-ramp.
The motorcycle, reportedly maneuvering through heavy traffic, struck the stationary Ford F-150 in the #2 lane. Both the rider and passenger were ejected upon impact, resulting in the motorcyclist’s death at the scene and the passenger’s hospitalization with severe injuries. CHP temporarily closed two highway lanes for investigation.
The driver of the Ford F-150, a 59-year-old from Murrieta, cooperated with authorities. CHP San Diego Area is conducting an investigation, awaiting a toxicology report for potential contributing factors.
