PATTERSON, California — In a devastating incident on Saturday morning, January 13th, 2024, a collision between a truck and a motorcycle resulted in the death of the motorcyclist, with a California drunk driver facing charges of DUI, as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The fatal crash unfolded just before 8 a.m. at the intersection of Crow’s Landing Road and Ehrlich Road, approximately five miles east of the communities of Patterson and Crow’s Landing, according to the CHP.
Investigators disclosed that a Silverado pickup truck was traveling southbound on Crow’s Landing Rd. at a speed of around 35 miles per hour when it attempted to make a turn onto eastbound Ehrlich Rd. Meanwhile, a Hayley Davidson motorcycle was heading northbound on Crow’s Landing Rd. at an undetermined speed.
Regrettably, the driver of the pickup failed to yield the right of way and turned directly into the path of the oncoming motorcycle. Despite the motorcyclist’s efforts to slow down, a collision ensued, leading to the rider being ejected and ultimately succumbing to the impact. The CHP identified the motorcyclist as a 46-year-old man.
The driver of the pickup, a 47-year-old man, was found to be driving under the influence, prompting his arrest, according to the CHP. This tragic incident serves as a somber reminder of the consequences of impaired driving, as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision to assign liabilities.
